A night of Persian Classical Music & Electronics

The debut of a group formed specifically for this concert sees Toronto’s and New York’s finest Shaho Andalibi (nay), Aria Rostami (electronics) Dark Entries, Naghmeh Farahmand (tombak/daf) pooling their musical forces together.
Link Music Lab, Torontos premier presenter of contemporary Persian music, explores connections between identity, culture and musical creation with a new series contemplating the contemporary Persian-Canadian experience. Persian classical/traditional/folk music is re-explored and re-imagined at the Small World Music Centre. The goal of these sessions is to create a magic special to Toronto.
Shaho Andalibi Trained by Jamshid Andalibi and Iraj Andalibi, Shaho Andalibi is one of Iran's best Ney and Daf players, Kurdish vocalist and composer.

Aria Rostami Aria Rostami currently lives in Brooklyn, New York and moved there after living and making music in San Francisco for 11 years. Rostami started releasing music under his own name in early 2011 and has releases on labels such as Spring Theory, Glacial Movements, Dark Entries, Crash Symbols, Zoom Lens, Audiobulb and Jacktone Records. Aria Rostami also occasionally releases collaborations work with Daniel Blomquist.

Naghmeh Farahmand - is a Persian percussionist who comes from a musical family. She is the daughter of one of the leading percussion masters of Iran, Mahmoud Farahmand. Naghmeh grew up surrounded by music in a full house of drums.
